Popin Pete
Timothy Earl Solomon a.k.a. Popin Pete was inspired by his older brother, “Boogaloo Sam”, who by that time had already mastered the Popping techniques with the Boogaloo styles that originated in Oakland. Popin Pete was a first generation member of The Electric Boogaloos, joining the group in 1978.
As a true pioneer, he continues to push the boundaries of the art form, innovating iconic styles and concepts like Crazy Legs, ET, Spider-Man, and Sleepy Style all steps created by him. Decades into his journey, he remains an absolute legend and a vital point of reference.
Michael Jackson’s iconic movement style was deeply shaped by his nearly two-decade relationship with The Electric Boogaloos. The connection was sparked in 1982 when Jackson, captivated by their performance on Soul Train, approached members of the legendary crew to choreograph his groundbreaking 'Thriller' and 'Beat It' music videos.
