Obs: The SDR International Entertainer title will be awarded to the dancer who earns the highest praise from both the judges and the audience.

  • You can cast your nominations until October 18th, 2025.

Following that, the voting period will run until November 1st. This gives you plenty of time to get involved—share the news on social media, tell your friends and family, and encourage everyone to cast their vote!

To ensure a fair and unbiased selection process, nominations for the Street Dance Roots International Awards are completely free of charge. This allows us to consider a diverse range of dancers, regardless of their financial situation or the size of their following.

    HOW to Nominate a Dancer

We encourage the public to submit information, share links, and provide content that highlights a dancer's excellence and involvement in their category over the past two years.

    WHO are we looking for?

Our judges will be evaluating dancers who have demonstrated not only technical proficiency but also a strong sense of artistry and creativity. They will also consider the dancer's level of engagement and impact within their dance community for at least the last two years.

Dancers who no longer wish to participate can be removed from the process at any time.

  • Ensuring a Fair and Transparent Process

To ensure transparency and fairness, the SDR team will meticulously review all votes. An automated system computes the results into shared spreadsheets and sends email notifications for every vote to multiple recipients, so we can carefully monitor the process.

    The Judges' Role

Our judges are experts in their respective fields, chosen for their deep knowledge and experience. Once the public has selected the top 12 nominees, the judges will pick the one they believed that must be awarded.

The SDR team is responsible for verifying the votes, ranking the dancers, and, in the event of a tie, all judges from the other categories will be called upon to cast a tie-breaking vote for that winner.

  • While you can follow part of the process online on SDR's social media channels, including Instagram and YouTube, the winners will be announced in person! Be there for a live event on the evening of October 12th at the Second Avenue Saloon in Upland, California, to find out who takes home the prize.

  • The 12 semifinalists are ranked by the judges and announced in a live, exclusive event on the evening of November 29th at the Grand Opening of the Street Dance Roots Retreat in Lake Arrowhead, CA.

The winners of each category will receive an invitation for themselves and one (1) guest to attend the Street Dance Roots Retreat in Lake Arrowhead, California.

    The prize package includes:

    • A trophy

    • A signed book “Are You That Girl On Soul Train?“ signed by Damita Jo Freeman.

    • A trip package to Lake Arrowhead, CA that includes: Accommodations for the winner and guest for the duration of the retreat weekend (3 nights).

    • Room and board (meals) for the winner and guest during the stay.

To claim and schedule the Street Dance Retreat, the winners must contact the Street Dance Roots team within at least thirty (30) days of notification before their intended trip. This contact is mandatory to discuss and confirm the specific arrival and departure dates for their retreat weekend, which must be selected from the available dates on the 2026 calendar.
