Vince Harper

In 1972, looking older for his age and using a fake ID, Vince Harper won his first dance contest at a nightclub in Lakewood California when he was just 15 years old. That same year he became a regular dancer on a Regional TV program called "The Real Don Steele Show". The following year he became a regular on the Nationally Broadcast Dance Show, "American Bandstand". A huge fan and inspired by The Lockers, who were dancing on the show, Vince and a couple of friends formed a Dance Group called "The Funky Bunch". Together they performed at local venues, eventually landing a bi-weekly

show at the nightclub "My Place” and later merging with a group that performed on alternate weeks.

In 1976 the two groups merged under the name "Dancin Machine". Vince and the group toured the US and Internationally. After spending months working in Las Vegas, "Dancin' Machine began to perform on numerous TV Shows such as "Midnight Special", "Hot City", "Kicks" and the 20th Anniversary "Grammy Awards".

After leaving the group in 1980 Vince had the fortune and opportunity to perform with some of his dance Idols from the original "The Lockers", Don Campbell", Greg Campbellock Jr, also with Shabba Doo, Scoo-B. Doo, Alpha Anderson, and Luis "Deputy" Green. In 1982 Vince stepped away from dancing to pursue his 2nd passion Stand Up Comedy. However, he did incorporate some dance into his Stand Up act. He toured the country as a comic for 15 years. Even though he no longer tours, as a comedian Vince Harper entertains audiences at local Southern California clubs, and the dance is still in his performances.
