Boogaloo Sam

Sam Solomon, a.k.a. Boogaloo Sam, is a legendary figure in the foundations of Street Dance, recognized as one of the major influencers of Popping and Boogaloo. In the mid-1970s, inspired by the movements of cartoons and everyday life in Fresno, California.

In 1977, he founded the pioneering crew the Electric Boogaloos, a group that became instrumental in documenting and spreading these styles globally. Sam’s innovation transformed the landscape of West Coast funk styles, creating a technical vocabulary. Beyond his technical prowess, he is celebrated as a "cultural architect" who bridged the gap between social dance and high-level performance art, being a true master of his craft for the dancers of the past, present, and future.
